Words are binding spells that can be attached to Weapons, Martial Arts, or Sealed Verses to give the host item stat buffs or Status Effects. There are a total of 120 Words in Nier Replicant ver1.2247... . Words - Nier Replicant
Words are a secondary component in Nier Replicant's Combat system. They are spells that bind to Weapons, Martial Arts (dodging and evading), and Sealed Verses that provide an increase in Stats or a Status Effect. A maximum of two different Words can be attached to each host item at a time.
Words are unique in their means of acquisition - they are only dropped by Shades, but automatically fly to the Protagonist without needing to be manually picked up. Whenever the player unlocks a Word, a notification will pop up. The types of Words acquired and their respective quantities can be checked via the menu.
Many Words are dropped only by specific types of Shades at certain Locations and times, while others remain generally obtainable throughout the game.
The effects of each Word's buffs remain active so long as they are attached to the host item. When attached to Weapons or Sealed Verses, they also become prefixes for their names. For example, if the Words Ula and Hod are attached to the Spear, Transience, it will become Ula Hod Transience.
Currently there are 120 words including 1 additional word, Ashurfarra, but it is not part of the percentage. Collecting 60 words will grant you Wordsmith Achievement.

Which words affect the character, and which ones affect just the item/spell? For the former, do they only take effect if the spell is used? For example, Exp rate+4%. If it is assigned to a spell, does it always have impact, only if the spell is assigned to a slot, only if the spell is used on a target, or only if the spell actually kills the target? If the latter, that means it can't possibly stack, right?
Similarly I'm curious about martial arts evade and defend words. Is MP recovery only active while evading, for example.
I've tested the MP cost words, they only affect the specific spell they are assigned to. So they cannot stack

Beware, it's hypotesized that words that increase Item Drops may actually decrease the chance to obtain rare materials needed to upgrade weapons.

Can these drop in any order? Say 12% attack, then the 2% attack etc.
There seems to be some form of "hidden synergy" for some words. For instance Besi(Phys. Up 6%) can upgrade the effect of Soles(Paralysis) from lv. 1 to lv. 2
I can't possibly be the first person who has interacted with this, so where is the online trail?
I'm only just getting to Seaside so I may be missing crucial information that is obvious later in the game, but I will try to experiment more.
I tried to find anything about synergies all over the place but I have found nothing.
