The Runaway Son

The Runaway Son is one of the Side Quests in NieR Replicant. Side quests are optional tasks or quests usually requested by NPCs that players can choose to complete in order to obtain rewards. Some quests rewards are required for certain endings. 

This is an Act I Quest and can only be completed during Act I

 

A man across the way from the weapon shop near the southern gate needs help finding his runaway son. The young man apparently wears an unusual-looking hat.

The runaway wants to thank the tavern keeper's family for helping him. Bring him five pieces of mutton and three pieces of goat meat.

You collected all of the meat. Bring it to the tavern keeper.

You've lost the runaway. Return to his parents.

Look around Seafront for clues to the runaway's whereabouts.

The runaway has gone to Facade. Track him down and make him pay for what he's done.

You found the runaway in Facade. He's making a run for it - nab him!

The runaway has seen the error of his ways. Report back to his parents.

Now the runaway parents are missing! ...Apparently the entire family is full of liars

Investigate the whereabouts of the Villager's son and bring him back to his family.

This quest is activated once NieR progresses past the Barren Temple in Facade in the storyline

  • Speak to the villager close to the Southern Gate

Seafront

  • The runaway will be at Seafront. Speak to the man wearing an unusual orange hat. He will be just past the Post Office standing next to a tree

The runaway wants to thank the tavern keeper's family for helping him. Bring him five pieces of mutton and three pieces of goat meat.

You collected all of the meat. Bring it to the tavern keeper. The Tavernkeeper will have no idea what runaway NieR is talking about. 

 

Village

  • You've lost the runaway. Return to his parents.

 

Seafront

  • Look around Seafront for clues to the runaway's whereabouts.

The guard at the exit will say someone was looking for directions to Facade

 

Facade

The runaway has gone to Facade. Track him down and make him pay for what he's done.

  • Ask around the Masked People of Facade. There will be a number of people who can provide some clues, and NieR must speak to all of them. They can be identified with the Quest Marker speech bubble above their heads - they will be up from the weapon's shop.
  • Once they are all spoken to, a new door can now be examined and the runaway will be found 
  • The runaway will run away again. Chase him down 

NieR will be intercepted by a pack of wolves

  • Kill all the wolves and speak to the runaway again. 
  • The runaway has seen the error of his ways. Report back to his parents.

 

Village

  • examine the door where the client was standing, they will leave NieR a note. 

NieR does not get paid, but this will end the quest. 

The guard will come and say they also borrowed money from everyone in the village and skipped town. Turns out the kid ran away to avoid the life of crime   

Now the runaway's parents are missing! ...Apparently the entire family is full of liars.
