The ability to Guard Break is affected by a few key factors: 

(NieR's Level/EXP) + (Equipped Weapon weight) + (Words equipped for Guard Break+%? x2) + (Items for a temporary effect) 

Guard Break is a stat in NieR Replicant that gives NieR the ability to break a Shades and other enemies' guards or defense during combat.  This ability will be obtained as a tutorial early game. This is improved as the player progresses in the game, levels up and gains EXP

 

What can affect or increase NieR's Guard Break ability?

There are other different factors that can stack and allow NieR's Guard Break to increase. 

  • First off, Guard Breaks are obtained as a tutorial early game where if NieR's attack is blocked by a Shade, he can break the enemy's guard by continuing to attack. 

  • The weapon's ability to guard break also affects our overall chances of breaking a guard

  • There are Words with specific abilities to increase a percentage in Guard Break- specifically words with the prefix "Var" There are around 10 "Var" words ranging from a 2% increase to 30% increase in Guard Break ability.  The lowest being Var and the highest- Varuloth.
