Cultivating or Gardening is a feature in NieR Replicant. It allows the player to plant, grow and harvest different plants to sell or use.
This page covers a list of the various items you can obtain through this mechanic, tutorial, guides on how to properly utilize this feature, and the possibilities for crossbreeding and the abilities of the crossbred products.
Examine the field next to NieR's house to plant any seeds in your possession. Over time, the seeds will grow into flowers, fruits and vegetables that you can harvest.
-Cultivating Plants Tutorial
Cultivating is used to grow and produce various flowers or fruits and vegetables for Quests or Recovery Item products. Though it is unmentioned in the game, crossbreeding flowers are a part of the cultivation feature of the game, and the legendary Lunar Tears can be grown from this process.
Cultivating is needed to get one of the Achievements in NieR Replicant:
- Legendary Gardener - Successfully cultivate the legendary flower.
How to Cultivate
Cultivating
- Plant a seed and water it. It will take approximately 24 hours before it bears fruit. This is tied to real-time but can be manipulated if the system clock is manually changed. Harvest the field. Leave it for 2 days or more and they will potentially wither. Using a fertilizer will either speed up the process or increase the outcome of the plant.
Cross-breeding
- Only Moonflowers can be crossbred in NieR Replicant. Moonflowers have healing capabilities. The white moonflower, also known as the Lunar Tear, has the ability to fully heal. The only Moonflower seeds available for purchase are Red, Gold, and Blue. Buy all three- around ten of each.
- When planting on the field, alternate the colored flowers in the same row, for example, Red/Gold/Red/Gold to create Peach Moonflowers
- Plant the seeds and water them. Save and shut the game. Turn the clock four hours later and water them again. This is to increase the number of seeds it bears.
- Save again and shut the game and turn it forward two days or wait for the two full days to pass in real time. This will ensure the flowers have wilted and instead of harvesting the flower, the seeds will be available for harvest.
Crossbred Moonflowers
Peach Moonflower - (Red + Gold Moonflower)
Indigo Moonflower - (Gold + Blue Moonflower)
Pink Moonflower - (Red + Indigo Moonflower)
White Moonflower - (Pink + Peach Moonflower)
Cultivating a Lunar Tear
Cultivating a Lunar Tear is the requirement for the Legendary Gardener Achievement. It is a crossbreed between Peach Moonflowers and Pink Moonflowers. If it does not work, it does not mean that it is wrong, as they only have a 2% chance of growing even with the correct materials. Odds are you will receive more Pink Moonflower seeds before the white one appears.
Refer to the crossbred chart on the requirements to achieve each colour. Repeat the cross-breeding process until the White Moonflower seed is attained.
Plant the seed like normal and wait one day to harvest the Lunar Tear or two days for more seeds. These could be sold for 5000 gold or used as a recovery item.
Quests
Most Quests that require products of cultivations items require items that can be purchased from a local Grocer. There is only one quest that requires the use of cultivation to produce and crossbreed Pink Moonflowers. She will ask for ten Pink Moonflower Seeds.
Cultivation Field
The field is located just next to NieR's home in the Village. It is unlocked and expanded through the Quests from the Florist. If quests are skipped, an alternative is provided.
Quests:
- Shopping List - Unlock NieR's Garden
- A Return to Shopping - Expand the Garden
Alternative:
- Cultivator's Handbook - If Quests are skipped the field can still be unlocked by purchasing the Cultivator's Handbook from the Village Florist for 5000 gold
Fertilizer
Fertilizer can be added to the cultivation field to affect the progress or outcome. There are three types of fertilizer that can be bought from Florists or some Item Shopkeepers.
Bounty Fertilizer - Boosts the harvest output
Speed Fertilizer - Speeds up plant growth, resulting in an earlier harvest
Flowering Fertilizer - Lengthens the flowering and harvesting period of a plant

Can you get vegetable seeds by letting the crops die? (Similar to how you let the Moonflowers die to get the seeds)

Hello the trick to get seeds by moving the clock forward dosn't work for me on PS4 pro and the console is not connected to the internet.
For anyone playing on PS4, you need to change your time zone and not your time.
