Blue Marlin Information

Blue Marlins are a necessary catch in one of the Fisherman's Quests,  a series of Side Quests in the game.

  • Blue Marlin is a saltwater fish caught with Sardines at the Seafront Pier
  • Sardines can be bought from the Tackle Shopkeeper at Seafront for 250 gold or caught at the Seafront beach.
  • The fish will nibble only once, so reel in after the first bite even if the bob hasn't sunk. Waiting for the bob to sink will result in a Shark.
  • Catching Blue Marlin would add it to the Fishmonger's inventory in Seafront

Blue Marlin Quest

Speak to the old Fisherman in Seafront, and he will ask NieR to catch him two Blue Marlin fish. Completing the quest will improve NieR's fishing skill level.

You have to catch these the same way as the sandfish, pull back as soon as the bobber dips the first time. I stocked up with 20 sardines but I only used 7, I caught 3 sharks, 2 got eaten/lost, and I caught 2 blue marlins.
